Therapist & Clinical EFT Expert
Over the next few paragraphs I intend to give you an idea of the therapist behind the picture with hopes that my approach is something that resonates with you.
Firstly, I trained as a person-centred experiential (PCE) therapist and then I delved into the world of energy psychology; my first stop was EFT / Tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques). After witnessing how quickly EFT reduced stress and anxiety, I was sold! I became completely passionate about it and went on to gain my certification from ACEP.
I have found that both EFT and aspects of person-centred therapy work harmoniously and I am able to use both with great success.
Having my foundation in PCE therapy allows me to empathically attune to your distress ensuring that I hold a safe, non-judgemental therapeutic space for you to explore your experiences whilst I guide you through each of our sessions with much care and compassion. PCE therapy alone is extremely powerful because it allows you to gain self-awareness and self-understanding around your emotions and behaviours, which often translates into growth and a certain ‘freeness’.
EFT comes under the umbrella of energy psychology; it is a mix of both psychology and energy medicine. We tap on acupressure points positioned on the body’s meridian system which releases stuck energy and/or emotional distress. Using EFT helps to regulate emotions as it down-regulates your amygdala (or as most people know it, your fight/flight response), ensuring that you always have a resource to cope with emotional distress.
My style in session is not dissimilar to how I am in my everyday life. You will be met with a warm energy every time we work together. I am caring, compassionate, a great listener and I also have a professional but fun side. More than this, I hope to be part of your journey to becoming your authentic self by being the light that guides you in your struggle.
In regard to qualifications, I have a BA (Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy. I am also certified to practice clinical EFT and I do regular CPD which means I am aware of new advances in my field.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP), as well as the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology (ACP-EFT) and I adhere to their ethical framework.
GENUINE, COMPASSIONATE, HEALING
I am a genuine, authentic person both in my working and personal life. It has always been important for me to be as open and as true to myself and others as possible. This authentic way of being allows my clients to feel safe, held and comfortable during our sessions.
I have always been compassionate. I remember being a little girl and just wanting to take peoples' pain away from them. Even walking past strangers - I could always feel when they were in pain, just as if it was my pain. This need to help others in times of distress has extended into my adult life and I am lucky enough to do this for a living. You will find that I bring this empathy and compassion into each of our sessions.
I have experienced huge amounts of sadness and heartbreak in my life - I lost my Mum at an early age and then I lost my Dad a decade later. However, I have always healed - I have always grown. Healing is a huge part of why I chose this profession, as to be a part of someone else's healing journey is the most gratifying experience one could wish for.
